What Are Vape Kits?

A vape kit, or rather the vape device itself, is what heats your e-liquid to produce vapour. Vape kits come with everything, or most of what you need to start vaping, and there are different types of devices to suit different needs.

Vape kits include everything you need to vape (except e-liquid), such as pods/tanks, coils and usually a charging cable.

There are various types of vape kit to suit different vaping styles and levels of experience.

Vape kits range in price. You can get a simple starter kit for as little as £10-£20, while more advanced sub ohm kits can cost around £60 or even £90.

What is included in a Vape Kit?

Vape kits include all the components you need to vape (except e-liquid in most cases). This includes the vaping device itself, pods/tanks, coils, a charging cable and sometimes accessories like drips tips or o rings. They may also come with a removable battery, although most are either built-in or sold separately.

Different types of vape kit

There are multiple types of vape kits that are designed to cater to different experience levels and vaping styles. If you’re new to vaping, then you might not know what to start with. Below is an overview of the different types of vape kit available.

Disposables are the simplest vaping devices, perfect for beginners. Pre-filled and pre-charged, they’re ready to use right out of the box. Once empty, simply replace with a new one—no refilling or recharging needed. Typically, they provide 500-800 puffs and contain 2ml of 20mg nic salt e-liquid to provide a smooth throat hit and quick craving satisfaction.

Vape pens are slim, pen-shaped devices powered by built-in batteries, ideal for Mouth To Lung (MTL) vaping, mimicking the sensation of smoking. They come with a refillable 2ml tank and are usually compatible with 50/50 or high PG e-liquids. Generally, they’re operated with a single button.

Pod kits offer a balance of power and simplicity, designed for easy use. They’re great for MTL vaping with higher wattage and larger batteries. Pod kits often have inhale activation or dual activation modes (inhale or button). Closed pod systems use prefilled, non-refillable pods, while open pod systems use refillable pods for a more sustainable option.

Sub ohm kits, also known as box mods, are powerful devices aimed at experienced vapers. They are designed for Direct To Lung (DTL) vaping, creating thick clouds and strong flavors. These kits include advanced features like Variable Wattage and Temperature Control, and use low resistance coils (below 1.0 Ohms) with 70/30 or high VG e-liquids for intense vapor production.

How much are vape kits?

Aside from the health benefits, cost is another big factor in the decision to switch from smoking to vaping. In fact, it might come as a surprise how much cheaper vaping actually is!

While smoking is an ongoing expense, vaping just comes with the initial investment of purchasing your first vape kit. Vape kits are available in a wide range of prices, with some of the more advanced sub ohm kits costing between £60-£90 (although most cost around £40).

That said, you can pick up a high-quality starter kit, such as a pod kit or vape pen, for as little as £10-£20 — which these days, is cheaper than two 20-decks of cigarettes!

What are the best vape kits for beginners?

If you’ve just switched from cigarettes or disposables, you’ll most likely want to pick up a starter kit. These are simple vapes that are designed to be as easy to use as possible and tend to be pretty affordable. Starter kits can come in the form of pod vapes or vape pens, and what type of kit you should go for first depends on a few factors, like:

  • Simplicity: If you’re new to vaping, then how easy it is to set up and use should be a deciding factor in what type of kit you buy first.
  • Maintenance: How much ongoing maintenance a vape kit requires should also influence your decision. For example, if you don’t want to spend loads of time fiddling around with coils, then you should opt for a device that uses built-in coil pods.
  • Size of the device: If you expect to be vaping on the go a lot, then we’d advise to get a compact kit that’ll easily fit in your pocket.
  • Vaping style: Most of the beginner-friendly pod kits and vape pens tend to offer an MTL style inhale, but if you want bigger clouds, then it’s worth investing in a sub ohm kit.
