What Are Nicotine Pouches?

Nicotine pouches are a less harmful alternative to tobacco products, offering a convenient way of satisfying your nicotine cravings in situations and settings where you aren’t allowed to vape. Since they don’t create any vapour or smoke, you can use them at the office, on public transport, or at pubs and restaurants. They’re super easy to use, just pop one between your top lip and gum, and it’ll start to kick in within about five minutes.

Place your nicotine pouch between your top lip and gum

Wait for your nic pouch to kick in

Leave it in place for around 30 minutes

Dispose of your pouch

What strength of nic pouch should I start with?

If you’re new to nicotine pouches, you’ll want to go for a lower strength like 3mg. Most people start with a 3mg or 6mg pouch and then gradually increase the strength as they get used to them. We don’t recommend starting out with a higher strength, as it’ll probably feel too intense. Once you’ve gotten a bit more of a tolerance to pouches, you can start trying higher strengths, like 9mg or more.

Please note: The nicotine from pouches is absorbed differently to how vape juice is absorbed, so the strengths do not correspond with each other. For example, if you usually vape 20mg e-liquid, don’t start out with a 20mg nic pouch. It’ll be way too strong!

Why do nic pouches tingle?

For the first five minutes of putting a pouch in, you’ll feel a slight tingling sensation where it meets your gum. Don’t be alarmed; this is supposed to happen and it means that your pouch is kicking in.

This tingling feeling occurs when the nicotine leaves the pouch and is absorbed by your gum. If you’re finding the tingle overwhelming, we recommend trying a lower strength.

How long should I leave a nic pouch in?

Each brand designs their pouches differently, so the time it takes for the nicotine to release can vary. Most nic pouches, like those made by Nordic Spirit and Zyn, work for around 30 minutes. However, some pouches can last for up to an hour. For best results, we advise that you check the manufacturer’s website before use.

How many nicotine pouches are in a tub?

Most nic pouches come in packs of 20 or 21, and this will vary depending on brand and pouch size. For example, a tub of Zyn Slim contains 21 pouches, while a tub of Zyn Mini contains 20 pouches.

Can nic pouches expire?

Nicotine pouches are made with food-grade preservatives so that they can be used for as long as possible. After you’ve opened a tub, we advise that you use them within two weeks. Sealed tubs will last for up to about a year. Again, this may vary between manufacturers.

Nicotine pouches vs. Snus

Snus is made with tobacco and is illegal to buy or sell in the UK. Nic pouches are 100% tobacco-free and are made with food-grade ingredients, plant fibres and of course, nicotine.
