What Are Nic Salts?
Nicotine salt is a type of naturally-forming nicotine derived from the tobacco leaf. Nic salt liquid can be used in a variety of vaping devices and works in the same way a freebase e-liquid would. What sets them apart, is that nicotine salts offer a much smoother throat hit compared to freebase nicotine. Not only that, but they’re absorbed by the body at a faster rate, so they’ll satisfy your cravings quicker too.

What type of vape kit should I pair nic salts with?
Typically, nic salt e-liquid is blended to a concentration of 50% PG or higher. This means you’ll want pair it with an MTL (Mouth To Lung) vape kit — whether that’s a pod vape, vape pen or starter kit — for best results. We don’t recommend using nicotine salts with sub ohm kits, as the higher PG levels combined with the lower-resistance coils will leave you with an unpleasantly harsh throat hit, which sort of defeats one of the purposes of nic salts in the first place.
Nicotine Strength percentages explained
You may find a percentage displayed on your bottle of nic salt e-liquid. If you find that a bit confusing, it basically corresponds to the nicotine strength of your vape juice. For example, 2% is equivalent to 20mg.
Should I choose a nic salt or freebase e-liquid?
Whether you decide to opt for salt nicotine or freebase nicotine depends on your personal preferences and vaping habits. As mentioned, nic salts deliver a smoother throat hit compared to freebase nicotine and boast a faster absorption rate to take care of cravings quickly. Plus, they’re available in slightly higher nicotine strengths, so vapers can enjoy a higher nicotine content without the harsh throat hit.
However, this is purely subjective and there are a couple of reasons why you might prefer to go for traditional freebase nicotine e-liquids instead. Firstly, if you’ve just made the switch from smoking, then the stronger and more cigarette-like throat hit of freebase nicotine might make the transition feel smoother and much more natural. Secondly, while nic salts will satisfy your nicotine cravings faster, the slower absorption rate of freebase nicotine means the satisfaction might feel like it lasts a bit longer (despite actually staying in the bloodstream for roughly the same duration).
