Uwell have sent us a sample of the latest entry in their iconic Caliburn series that revolutionised pod kits as we know them. With its full-screen interface and inclusion of a nifty 0.4 Ohm Caliburn G3 pod, we reckon the Caliburn G3 Pro is going to be a heavy hitter.
So, let’s take a closer look at the device and see if it lives up to previous Caliburn kits that are loved by vapers everywhere.
I started my vaping journey with the original Caliburn, so I’m always excited when I hear that Uwell are bringing out a new one.
The Caliburn G3 was one of the most popular kits of last year and the Pro builds on what made it so popular with some improvements and new features, such as a slightly larger battery, higher adjustable output range and an eye-catching full-screen LCD display.
Uwell were kind enough to send us a sample of the device before its release, so I jumped at the chance to try it out and give you the rundown. So, with all of that out of the way, let’s dive in!

Design & Appearance
Aesthetically, the G3 Pro is somewhat similar to its predecessor. It strikes that same balance between a sturdy build and a pocket-friendly design.
That said, it’s a bit more robust. It weighs in at 90g, so the 48g of the original G3 feels featherweight in comparison (okay, that might be a tad hyperbolic). It’s also constructed with a combination of Zinc Alloy and PCTG, as opposed to the Aluminium used to make its predecessor.
At the top of the device, you’ll find a handy e-liquid window that shows you exactly how much vape juice is left in your pod to prevent nasty dry hits and stop you from burning out the built-in coil too fast.
The USB-C port is now located on the side of the device, where you’ll also find the firing button. But, we’d say the main difference in the G3’s appearance lies in its huge LCD display screen that covers the whole front end of the device.
This full-screen interface is a massive upgrade to the tiny little screen at the bottom of the original G3 and the switch from OLED to LCD is also an improvement, as you can see all the important info that bit clearer, thanks to higher colour accuracy and increased brightness.
The Pro also boasts a shinier and more futuristic design compared to the matte finish of the original G3, which I think looks great, but that just comes down to personal preference really.
We received the G3 Pro in its Pacific Blue colourway, but you’ll also be able to grab it in other vibrant colours like Rose Gold and Emerald Green, along with more muted options like Midnight Black, Space Grey and Stone Grey.

Interface & Operation
Beyond the massive full-screen LCD display, the G3 Pro improves on previous iterations of the Caliburn with some nifty new features, while keeping what worked well.
Controls
Just like the original G3, the Pro makes use of dual activation modes. This means you can vape at the click of a button or just inhale on the mouthpiece to get started. The button is located on the side of the device and you can use it to switch it on/off with five clicks in two seconds.
You can also use it to adjust the wattage by pressing it three times to go into power adjustment mode. From there, just use it to cycle through wattages until you find the perfect power level to match your pod’s built-in coil.
If you don’t want to bother with button activation at all and would rather just puff on the mouthpiece, then ironically, the button can sort that out for you too. Press it twice in two seconds to lock the button ignition and switch to inhale activation.
If you change your mind, just do the same again to unlock the button ignition and switch back to auto mode (dual activation).
Overall, the multifunction button is a great addition and makes for a simple setup and smooth vaping experience.
Display Screen
I already talked about the display screen in the Design and Appearance section, so I won’t spend too long on this. As mentioned, it shows everything you need it to, so you can easily keep track of wattage, battery life, coil resistance and puff count.
It might be worth noting that the puff count will only register puffs that last longer than five seconds, but I don’t think this is such a big deal.
The larger size of the screen compared to the original G3’s tiny one, along with the upgrade to LCD lighting, means it’s a lot easier to view all your vaping data in one place and it makes adjusting the power a breeze.
I was very impressed with the display screen and I think it’s central to the overall experience of the G3 Pro. It’s a great accessibility feature too, so it can come in quite handy if you have minor problems with your eyesight. In fact, it’s one of the best and clearest displays I’ve ever seen on a vape kit!
Airflow
Similarly to a lot of the other Caliburn kits, the G3 Pro features an adjustable airflow, giving you the same level of control over how tight or loose your inhale feels. While the original G3 only offers two static airflow configurations, Uwell went for the more traditional approach with the Pro, placing a simple airflow control slider on the side of the device instead.
This is a massive improvement for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the airflow slider gives you a lot more control than just inserting your pod in different directions to switch between two very limited airflow options .This means that you can fine-tune your inhale a lot more accurately for an optimal and more personalised vape.
Secondly, having to take your pod out and reinsert it every time you want to adjust the airflow is just a bit of a pain in the arse.
Overall, the airflow adjustment on the G3 Pro is a huge return to form and I hope to see future Caliburn devices retaining this balance of simplicity and customisation.
Modes
The original G3 was the first Caliburn to feature an adjustable power output and Uwell kept this feature with the Pro.
Like I mentioned, you can adjust the power by quickly pressing the button three times and then toggling between the wattage options. I’m glad that Uwell decided to keep the adjustable wattage, as it lets you easily discover your ideal level of vapour production and fine-tune your perfect inhale.
If you don’t feel like adjusting the wattage and would rather jump straight into things then you can do that too, as the G3 Pro also features auto wattage selection. This means it’ll detect the resistance of the built-in coil inside your pod and automatically select the best power level to save you some time.
Inserting the 0.9 Ohm Caliburn pod will set the wattage to 15W, while popping the 0.4 Ohm version in will set it to 35W — which seems about right to me.
There’s also a compatible 0.6 Ohm pod available separately, which according to the user manual, will set the power to 25W.
This choice of adjustable power and auto wattage selection makes the Caliburn G3 a versatile piece of hardware that gives vapers the choice between a simplified setup and a fully-personalised experience.
If you’re new to vaping, using auto wattage selection will be simple and fuss-free, while the adjustable wattage gives you full control over vapour production.
That said, it could’ve perhaps done with a few more modes to satisfy the more advanced vapers out there, such as temperature control, pulse or boost mode. However, these output modes aren’t typical of pod kits — especially so for Caliburn devices, so I wasn’t expecting them to be featured.

Battery & Power
Battery Life
The Caliburn G3 Pro continues Uwell’s trend of increased battery sizes that started with the original G3. This, I can imagine, is welcomed by many of you (I’m certainly pleased about it).
For some context, Caliburn kits are somewhat notorious for their small battery sizes. All are equipped with a measly 520mAh battery up to the Caliburn X, which contains an 850mAh battery.
The G3 Pro is powered by a 1000mAh built-in battery, which is a 10% increase from the 900mAh battery found in its predecessor. It’s a small difference, but it makes for a more powerful and longer-lasting vape nonetheless. Overall, it certainly does the job and holds its charge for quite a while, so you won’t have to keep plugging it back in too often.
Once the battery is out of juice, the screen will display a red “low battery” warning and your device will stop outputting automatically, which is quite handy.
The battery life of the device is measured in bars and below, is a useful table that shows how the number of bars corresponds to the current battery level. You don’t have to thank me, I nicked it from the user manual!
Battery Level | Display |
Over 75% | 4 bars |
50% – 75% | 3 bars |
25% – 50% | 2 bars |
1% – 25% | 1 bar |
Less than 1% | Low battery, the device will stop outputting |
Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro Charging
Like most modern vape kits, the G3 Pro includes a USB-C cable, and it’ll reach a full charge in about 40-45 minutes. That’s pretty standard, so no complaints there.
While charging, the screen will display a dynamic charging icon that fills up with bars, depending on the charge level. This gives you a pretty clear indication of when you’ll be ready to unplug it and start vaping it again. When it reaches a full charge, the screen will turn itself off and the “G3 Pro” logo will stop flashing after 30 seconds.
Removing the USB-C cable at any point the screen and logo will display for a few seconds and then switch off.
Power Output
The Caliburn G3 Pro has an output range of 5–35W, so it’s a great choice if you want to switch between MTL (Mouth To Lung), RDTL (Restricted Direct To Lung) and DTL (Direct To Lung) vaping. Plus, as mentioned, it features Smart mode, so it’ll automatically select the best wattage based on the Caliburn G pod you’ve inserted to suit each vaping style.
This is where one small gripe I have with the device I have arises. If you’re more of an RDTL vaper. Popping in the 0.6 Ohm Caliburn G3 pod will set the output to 25W, which is perfect for that style of vaping. The problem is that this version of the pod doesn’t actually come with the kit.
It’s not too big a deal, as you can adjust the power to 25W yourself and if you want the 0.6 Ohm pod, you can just purchase it separately. However, it would’ve been nice if the pod was included.
With all of that said, the 10W increase from the original G3’s max output of 25W is a nice touch and makes for a more powerful vaping experience overall.

Uwell Caliburn G3 Pods
The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro includes two Caliburn G3 pods with built-in coils inside. The 0.4 Ohm pod comes pre-installed and there’s a spare 0.9 Ohm option in the packaging. There’s also a 0.6 Ohm version that you can purchase separately.
Like I mentioned earlier when talking about the power output, I’m a bit disappointed that the 0.6 Ohm pod isn’t included in the kit. But it’s not the end of the world, you can always buy a pack that includes it if that’s what you prefer. Plus, most vape kits come with two pods, so I may be asking a bit much.
The 0.9 and 0.6 Ohm pods will pair best with e-liquids blended to a concentration of 50% PG or more, such as nic salts and most freebase e-liquids. The 0.4 Ohm pod, on the other hand, is designed to be used with 70% and high VG vape juice.
That said, I’ve been vaping an OXVA nic salt with the 0.4 Ohm pod and I’m having no problems at all! It tastes just fine and I’m not getting any nasty dry hits. It certainly packs a punch, though, and I wouldn’t recommend this unless you have a fairly high nicotine tolerance (especially since I’m vaping 20mg).
As you might imagine, switching to the 0.9 Ohm pod felt a bit underwhelming, as it automatically lowers the power from 35W to 15W. But if you’re more of an MTL person (which I usually am), then this is fairly ideal.
What I found quite strange, is that there doesn’t seem to be much of a significant difference between the two in terms of vapour production. The 0.4 Ohm pod will of course create thicker, denser clouds, but the 0.9 Ohm option comes pretty close. RDTL vapers might be pleased to hear this, as they can enjoy the slightly larger amount of vapour combined with the tighter MTL style draw.
Refilling the pods is nice and easy, thanks to their top-filling design. Just snap off the mouthpiece to reveal the filling port and you can refill them with your vape juice of choice. This is perfect for me, as I’m not a big fan of side or bottom-filled pods. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always manage to spill some liquid when filling them!
Really, it’s just a matter of personal preference and admittedly, I’m quite clumsy!
Key Specs
- Capacity: 2ml
- Fill port: Top-fill
- Coil resistance: 0.4 Ohm (pre-installed), 0.9 Ohm (spare), 0.6 Ohm (sold separately)
- Coil type: Mesh (built-in)
- Compatible E-Liquids: 50VG/50PG, 70VG/30PG (0.4 Ohm)
Vaping the Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro
The G3 Pro is a versatile piece of hardware that can cater to beginners and experts alike. Just insert your pod and your device will work out the best wattage for you. Then, inhale on the mouthpiece and you’re good to go!
If you prefer a slightly higher or lower wattage than what it defaults to, you can adjust the output between 5W and 35W for a vape that suits your vaping style.
Want to tailor the feel of your inhale? You can do that too. Configure the airflow with the handy slider on the side of the device to switch between a tighter or looser draw (I tend to prefer my inhale on the airier side of things, personally).
Overall, I can’t say I’ve had any problems with the G3 Pro (aside from a few subjective issues).
Who should get the Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro?
Thanks to the G3 Pro’s balance of simplicity and customisation, vapers of any experience level can get the hang of it in no time. Newer vapers will have an easy time with the inhale activation and auto-wattage selection, while more seasoned users will have a blast fine-tuning the wattage and airflow to deliver the most optimal vape.
It also caters to different inhale styles, thanks to its 5–35W output range and choice of built-in coil resistances. If you’re someone who usually uses pod kits and wants to try sub ohm vaping, the inclusion of a 0.4 Ohm pod makes it the perfect introduction. Or, if you want a slightly more discreet MTL-ish vape, the 0.9 Ohm pod will do the job just fine.
Regardless of how long you’ve been vaping or the level of customisation you prefer, the Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro is a fantastic kit for you to pick up!
Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro Accessibility
Thanks to its huge LCD display screen, I’d say the G3 Pro is a fairly accessible option for visually impaired vapers. The colours are very bright and the numbers displayed are large enough to see clearly.
That said, I think voice notifications that provide updates on things like battery life, power settings and pod status could’ve been featured to help those with bad eyesight — like with the OXVA Xlim SE 2.
It’s also a pretty good choice for anyone with dexterity issues like dyspraxia, as the firing button is quite big and the top-filled pods are very easily refilled by simply snapping off the mouthpiece. One thing I will say, however, is that the airflow slider is a bit stiff, so vapers with short fingernails may have some trouble with it.

Conclusion: The logical evolution of the G3!
The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro is one of the best vape kits I’ve used in a while and I can definitely see it becoming my new everyday vape. Uwell has a reputation for creating some of the best pod vapes on the market, and the G3 Pro certainly lives up to the Caliburn name!
With such a return to form from previous iterations, such as the original G3, it seems that the Caliburn series will be entering the race for the best vape kits alongside OXVA Xlim and Vaporesso Xros devices once again.
I reckon I’ll mainly stick with the 0.4 Ohm Caliburn G pod, as it packs a real punch when it comes to flavour and vapour production. The 0.9 Ohm pod is still pretty decent and regardless of what one you go for, the super simple top-fill system makes refilling them super simple.
